A Wedding Anniversary, 20 Baby Chicks, and Serving the Lord

St. Patrick’s Day was our 6th wedding anniversary. We live in ye ol’ log cabin on 16 acres and of all of our animals, chickens are our favorite. So for our anniversary we dropped our daughter off with a friend, went to eat at the American Dixie Diner, and went and bought 10 Barred Rock and 10 Rhode Island Red chicks. Then we came home, settled them in their new home, and watched them interact for two solid hours. It was great! I couldn’t help but think during our time together that life is like a vapor and that this moment would be a distant memory in no time at all. That would seem hopeless but we have an eternal God with an eternal plan with unending forgiveness and an infinite plan for us! What a comfort and a joy to know that although this life is like the puff of a cigar, we are eternal beings and have an eternal destiny planned for us! I could not ask for a better life, a better wife, better children, better animals, or a better God.

I want to take a moment on this blog to publicly profess my faith: I am a Christian; a follower of Christ; the Christ of the Bible. I publicly acknowledge He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a tree, and was resurrected for me because of my sinful nature. I stand for Him; above all others: friends, family, security, property, life. If I face calamity, I will praise Him; death from anyone, group, or government  for His account, I will praise Him. My allegiance is to Christ and Christ alone. I gladly render to my country what is due my country; I will also stand for her in the shadow of standing for Christ. I am a Christian, of Jesus Christ, for Christ.
